My first baseball game + touring around Washington D.C. pt.1.

Hello everyone!

After 4 years of anxiously waiting, I have FINALLY arrived back in the USA!

First up: Washington D.C.!

We arrived on Friday, September 1st, and got settled into our hotel (The Henley Park Hotel) before exploring the neighborhood, looking for a place to have dinner. We had dinner at Sfoglina.

On Saturday, September 2nd, we went to our very first baseball game! It was the Washington Nationals vs Miami Marlins. Unfortunately Miami won...

But I had a great time watching the game!

On Sunday, September 3rd, we had our first day of touring around National Mall with a Hop On/ Hop Off tour bus. First stop was the Washington Memorial.

Then we went to see The Capitol.

Then we saw the Thomas Jefferson statue.

The next thing we did was visit the MLK memorial which I thought was very impressive, knowing what he meant to this country.

Then we walked around Franklin D. Roosevelt's memorial, who I recognized from the movie Annie, where she visited him with Daddy Warbucks. Now I know his whole story and what he meant to this country as well. I was impressed that even he, who was paralyzed and sat in a wheelchair, became president for 4 terms.

After president Franklin D. Roosevelt, we paid a visit to Abraham Lincoln, which I was most excited to see in person and it was very impressive to see how large his statue was. We even saw Navy soldiers visiting him.

Our final visit was the smartest person on the earth: Albert Einstein! Didn't even know he had his own statue here in the USA!

As the temperatures were brutal (about 36°C) we stopped for the day and went back to our hotel. After all, we did half of the National Mall and as we had a 2-day pass, we decided to stop halfway and do the other half the next day.

To be continued in the next blog 😉

Bye for now!

xoxo
